I try to enable people to experience “The Essense” of overland travel, defined by a friend as “something that cannot be explained, only experienced”.
“To encourage those thinking of travel to go, and enable those gone to get off the beaten track.” Max.

“The overland traveller goes around the corner to see who there is to meet around the next corner…” Max.

“The hitch hiker is there so you can do your good deed for the day”, Max.

“The traveller hitch hiker is there to give you the opportunity so you can do your good deed for the day, to share a ride in the same direction.” Max.

what some of us long distance overland travellers call “The Essesnse”, defined as “that something that cannot be explained, but only experienced”, “that something about spontaneous hospitality given by a local to a visiting stranger.” Max.

One of my favourite sayings, having been around this world twice , much of that overland, walked half of africa , offered to be a future CEO of CouchSurfing.org … ; ” I am glad we are all different , how can we all just get on with each other, and add up all our differences to make a new whole?” max.

And I have to ask these questions again ” it it 2020, why have we not got it right yet? Which begs the question, Can we get it right? Which begs the question, Are we able to get it right? Which begs the questions, are we meant to be able to get it right? Or is life just about making best of what you have just in front of you?”  Max.

“if we all travel, then there will be no one to visit”. Max.

” the most dangerous thing we do is live, the next is crossing a road, any road, anywhere”, max.

If my previous role. We had a saying.  “One poster/sign on the wall people may read it, two posters/signs on the wall people will look at it, three or more posters/signs on the wall then that is just wallpaper. NOTE, nowhere does it say that anybody understood or cognated what was written”, max.

In a letter that my mother typed to me on an old style typewriter with sticky keys and no correction ability when I was walking africa for peace back in 1979, was a line that read “What is wrong with the world is greed greed and 3/4greed”, max.
